Ordering Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions are medications which appear on your prescription slip which the doctor would like you to continue on a regular basis. Your list can also be found on your online account.
How to Request a Repeat Prescription
Repeat prescriptions may be ordered in 3 ways:
- Online
You can order your repeat prescriptions via Patient Access on a computer, tablet or smartphone.
You can also use the NHS App.
If ordering via patient access, please ensure you state in the comments section which site you would like to collect your prescription from i.e Ludham surgery or Stalham Green surgery. - In Person
Tick the boxes on your green repeat medication slip, OR, write a note stating what medications you would like and drop into our repeat prescription boxes, located in the lobby of each surgery. Please only order medications that you need. - By telephone
Call us on 01692 678611 for Ludham or 01692 580880 for Stalham Green. Press option 4 for dispensary. Lines open 09:30 – 18:00.
Collecting your Prescription
Please give three working days notice for repeat prescriptions. We would like to ensure that you don’t have to incur an extra journey to pick up any items that take the full three working days to obtain.
If you require medication when the practice is closed, please contact the surgery where you will be directed to the out of hours provider or alternatively pharmacies are permitted to an emergency supply of medication.
If you live within a mile of the chemist and/or are a non-dispensing patient, your prescription will be sent to your nominated pharmacy.

Dispensary Opening Hours
If you live more than one mile from a dispensing chemist you may choose to have your prescriptions dispensed at the surgery.
Please collect your repeat prescriptions after 11:00am as the dispensaries have a delivery each morning at 08:30am and any items that we may have to order for you will be dispensed during this period. This will ensure that your repeat medications are ready and waiting for you to collect.
During particularly busy periods, such as just before (and just after) a bank holiday, please allow four days for repeat prescriptions. If you would like to know more, please contact reception.
Phone lines are open from 09.30am -18.00pm for the dispensaries, Monday to Friday.

Questions about your Prescription
The quickest way to answer any queries you have regarding your prescriptions, or over the counter medication is by either phoning, or popping into your local pharmacy to ask the pharmacy team.
You can also contact our dispensary team who can send a message to your doctor or our inhouse pharmacy team, but please be aware response times may vary. Our dispensers cannot advise.
You can contact the dispensary in two ways – Fill in an online form / phone the dispensary team.
Medication Reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we will ask you to come in at least once a year for a review. Please make sure you book a routine appointment when we ask you to come in for your review.
You can do this in three ways.
- Use an online form.
- Phone us Monday to Friday, from 08:30 am to 18:00 pm.
- Visit the surgery and speak with a receptionist, Monday to Friday from 10am.

About Pharmacists
Pharmacists are experts in medicines who can help you with minor health concerns.
As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
Disposing of Old Medicines
If your medicine is out of date, unwanted, or some of it is left over after you have stopped taking it, do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet. Instead, take it to your pharmacy or return them to either dispensaries to be disposed of safely.
Over-the-counter medicines
Did you know that your local NHS spends £15m a year on prescribing medicines that are available to buy at the pharmacy?
Following national guidance from NHS England, our GPs are asked not to prescribe these medicines (there are some exceptions, see the below link), including for conditions such as coughs, colds, headaches, mouth ulcers, travel sickness and mild toothache.
Your GP will not generally give you a prescription for over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor health concerns. Instead, over-the-counter medicines are available to buy at your local pharmacy.
